About the event

This 2 hr workshop will cover some introductory basics of functional gait mechanics (aka walking and running) that include balance, timing, and coordination. Students will learn to put these principles together using ropes as a training tool (otherwise known as "rope flow.") Rope flow teaches our bodies to connect both sides, and teaches fundamental movement patterns that are used not only in walking, but also in turning, throwing, swimming, etc. Training with a rope teaches us to be more connected, more agile, have better balance and coordination, and most importantly, can help us to feel safer in our own bodies to do what we love doing.

Here is a short clip about what rope flow is: https://youtu.be/ktKeTRIOtOA

A couple of testimonials about Carrie and rope flow:

"Rope flow has been a great addition to my agility life.  The practice has given me better balance so my front crosses are easier and I can quickly reconnect with my dog after a blind.  I even throw a rope in my trial bag…so I can warm up and center myself before a run." ~Karen (agility competitor)

"One of the many things I love about training with Carrie is that each exercise she introduces is a variation on the theme of proper locomotion, so that over time my body absorbs the information and makes sense of how the layers fit together. She brings out the intelligence of movement patterns you were born with so that you can access and reinforce them and have them become a natural part of your own movement practices. I was concerned about balance after falling in my agility class, when I saw a flyer about Carrie’s seminar for agility handlers. Living in Chicago, it wasn’t feasible to make the seminar but our Zoom sessions have had a most positive impact on my balance in motion." ~Constance (agility handler)
